Dufva Barreca Design is a London based, interior design company created by Emilie Dufva Barreca in early 2018.

Emilie is Swedish/French and has lived and worked in Sweden, France, Spain and Italy before moving to London 13 years ago to begin her studies at KLC School of Design completing their diploma course graduating with honours. During a decade of employment at Candy & Candy, Emilie developed a broad design skill set, with a focus on the ultra-luxury residential market in UK and abroad.

Emilie has completed projects in London, Monaco, Paris, the south of France and New York and has also designed private yachts.

“I am inspired by natural materials and traditional craftmanship and adopt an holistic approach to design, drawing inspiration from my clients and the project location.

My design style naturally combines my heritage and background of French classicism together with a Scandinavian simplicity using light, natural colours and organic materials. I am often inspired by contrast in my use of light, colour, texture and style.”

During her career Emilie has enjoyed responsibility for running projects from initial brief through to completion and handover, incorporating project management and taking the creative lead. Emilie maintains an extensive global network of renowned practitioners within the various disciplines of the design industry.

For Emilie, the design process goes beyond selecting finishes, fittings and furniture. It is an investigative journey seeking to create an environment reflective of the client brief, be it a private residential project or a commercial space.

True design is being able to interpret and visualize a space based on a client’s story before it exists. The commencement of a project and the creative process always begins with meeting the client and seeing the property in order to create the foundation of the design.

“For me, being creative means having the tools to combine the fundamentals of a project from the client brief, location, project and purpose of the space and then converting those elements into a design scheme and ultimately a physical space. Designing projects follow trends and fashions. I take pride that my work creates homes or environments reflective of my client’s personality, catering for their lifestyle whilst naturally achieving a timeless aesthetic.”
